Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

According to my Mum, this was my absolute favorite book when I was little. I wouldn’t be able to sleep unless this was read out loud to me nightly (sounds like my high maintenance tendencies were present from birth). Even today, Goodnight Moon is a beloved work that occupies the bed stand of countless children across the world. The story is timeless; it is essentially about a bunny in a green room, which is filled with objects children can identify. The action of finding the red balloon or the pair of socks truly helps calm kids down before bedtime– it is rather magical. This book resonates with both the reader and the listener (made all the more apparent by a 29 year old telling you to purchase it), and its magic never becomes outdated.
